TV's Tastiest Treats

The vast wasteland of television occasionally hits its mark and leaves us with some terrific characters.  Sometimes it isn't only the character that is memorable; some parts played by any other actor or actress just wouldn't be the same or carry the same gravitas.

Women in television have many times left the world with iconic characters, largely in part due to the actress behind the on-screen personage.   A prime example of great casting concerned the 1990's UPN program Star Trek: Voyager.  The role of Voyager Captain Kathryn Janeway was originally meant for film actress Genevieve Bujold.  Bujold couldn't hack the show's shooting schedule, so she was replaced before it aired with Kate Mulgrew.  Another legendary starship captain was born.  This role was and forever will be Kate's; there can never be another Captain Janeway other than her.  Bujold would not have brought the strength of character, dynamism, and the "take-no-prisoners" attitude to the part that Kate Mulgrew did.  Kate owned it

Free-lance writer, lately I've been working up children's books using an intentionally crude format of original illustrations, anachronistically placed stock images, and other imagery used out of context.

Using the same format I have created five "adult" themed books (language and situations are stronger, though none are pornographic). The main character that will be most-heavily featured in these is my avatar, Vic Dillinger (a 1940s era private investigator). The Vic Dillinger moniker is one I've used as a pseudonym since 1982; I felt it was about time to put a face to a name. And, as I spent a significant chunk of my own life as a P.I. this character seems appropriate to represent me.

All of my graphic books use twisted humor.

I routinely write articles for contract and also write essays and informational articles on the web. I have completed two novel manuscripts and am halfway into a third.

As an artist I'm a MUCH better writer, but this is plain fun to do, and I've enjoyed surfing through others' works. There is a LOT of truly artistic talent on this web-site!!

Thank you, but I am a writer primarily so my "handicap" means I have to use anything and everything at my disposal to illustrate my books. That combinant style of original work with stock imaging and goofy pop culture iconography (used anachronistically in many cases) is the result. I have a dozen graphic "books" all using the same style (5 children's and 6 adult) inlcuding 2 prior Vic Dillinger: Film Noir P.I. "The Black Orchid" is the third in that series and it is WIP (about 1/2 complete).
